The Cots 4 Tots story
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit organization which supports the Marine Corps' annual toy drive. It offers financial, administrative logistical, promotional, and administrative support for local Toys for Tots coordinators, in addition to a variety of services that the Marine Corps is unable to provide. It also provides educational and informational materials to the general public, and arranges for national corporations to include information about Toys for Tots in their paid advertisements and also conducts a public education and publicity program every year.
The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fund-raising appeal for Bristol's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located at St Michael's Hospital. Since its inception the charity has raised tens of thousands of pounds to support families who have sick or premature babies in the West of England and South Wales. Its work includes family accommodation houses as well as providing the latest equipment for the NICU.
One of the primary focuses is Cots for Tots House, a free "home from home" for families who stay in the hospital. It is located next to the NICU and allows parents to be close to their children. The charity has helped over 2,100 families stay in the house since 2012.
Families who live at Cots for Tots House can be reassured that they're not the only ones. They are part of a community of other parents going through the same thing as them, and they can help each one another out. Additionally they have access numerous facilities to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
The charity also funds a music therapist who goes to the NICU to help reduce anxiety and pain levels for infants and their parents. This has been proven to improve the quality of life for the patients and their families. Music therapy also helps reduce the amount of medications needed to treat children, thereby saving time and money for hospitals. The therapist employs specially designed instruments that resonate, which are tuned to specific frequencies, and they play soothing tunes that soothe babies. The resonant musical instruments can also soothe fathers and mothers.

Abbey Silvester's two children, Alfie and Mollie, both were in the neonatal intensive care unit at St Michael's Hospital. She says Cots for Tots was "an absolute Godsend" and her family and she would not be able to cope without it. "You make friends here, you forge a real community and feel a deep love for one another," she said. "Without it, who knows what our lives might have looked like."
It is important to make the right decision for your baby when selecting a cot. There are many different sizes and styles to choose from, so it's crucial to consider what you'll need in the long term. A cot should be strong and have good railings. It should be easy to clean, and have an easily removable bed. Some cots come with a height-adjustable base, which is ideal for small children.
Moving can be stressful for anyone and for parents with children, it's even more stressful. They must cope with a baby and all the other challenges that accompany it. However, by putting in certain preparations, and hiring a car transport service early you can ensure your move is smooth.
